Based in Japan, Electric Sound Products got their start in the mid 1970s manufacturing high-end replacement parts for guitars under the direction of founder Hisatake Shibuya. Soon after, the company began crafting guitars and brought their musical instruments to the U.S. in the early 1980s. ESP made custom instruments for New York-based musicians and were soon “discovered” by more top performing rock and heavy metal artists, many of whom are loyal to the brand to this day. Musician’s Friend carries ESP Signature guitars and basses endorsed by rock greats like Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield of Metallica, George Lynch of Dokken, Will Adler from Lamb of God, Ron Wood from The Rolling Stones, and Stephen Carpenter of Deftones, just to name a few.
