The G5422TDC Electromatic® Hollow Body is a sharp Gretsch guitar with a bound double-cutaway hollow body featuring sound-post bracing and elegant bound f holes. Other features include a maple neck, bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets and hump-block pearloid inlays, silver plexi pickguard, three-position pickup switch, classic "G" arrow control knobs, rosewood based secured Adjusto-MaticTM bridge and Bigsby®- licensed B60 vibrato tailpiece, vintage-style open- back tuners and chrome plated hardware.

"Black Top" Filter'TronTM pickups endow Electromatic hollow-body instruments such as the G5422TDC with an electrifying voice and identity. Back in the 1970s most of the major guitar manufacturers, including Gretsch (owned at the time by Baldwin), suffered inconsistent quality GÇô lots of poor and average quality instruments, but also on occasion some good quality stuff came out... and Gretsch found one of those good ones! The pickups had knockout punch and phenomenal twang, so we looked inside those pickups and copied them to develop our Blacktop Filter'Trons. The guitar was Tim Armstrong's, and these new pickups were for his signature model. However, they sounded so good that we started using them on the rest of Electromatic models! So now all Hollowbodies and Pro Jets feature these "Black Top" Filter'TronGäó pickups based on a good set from the golden age of Rock!
