Arturia announces new ‘BRUTE’ products with ARTURIA MINIBRUTE 2, 2S and the intriguing all-new ‘ARTURIA LINK’ enabled RACKBRUTE system.
When ARTURIA launched the original MINIBRUTE back in 2012 it represented a key moment in the evolution of the company. A pure analogue semi-modular subtractive synthesiser, with MIDI and CV connections, an audio input for processing external signals and built-in arpeggiator MINIBRUTE changed the direction ARTURIA were moving in. More than that, it changed what we as musicians thought was possible from a synth considering we were talking about a product you can buy for £350. This bold and unexpected new direction Arturia took with the MINIBRUTE spawned an entirely new generation of affordable compact inspiring bits of kit from ARTURIA. Plus of course, the truly mighty MATRIXBRUTE. And all this from a company not so long ago was best known only for its superb analog emulation software and a single rather ambitious foray into synth hardware.
That was some time ago now, and with the announcement of the ARTURIA MINIBRUTE 2, MINIBRUTE 2S and the complimentary RACKBRUTE. With this, ARTURIA is cementing their place at the zenith of affordable innovative modular friendly instrument production.
A New Generation.
The sonic architecture of the MINIBRUTE 2 and the MINIBRUTE 2S is identical. However, the fresh approach to the formula they take with the MINIBRUTE 2S, effectively splicing the brute audio engine with BEATSTEP style technology, is a masterstroke of product packaging. They keyboard version too gives the player a new expanded modular aspect for those who want to feel the ivories under their fingers. Sporting a 48-way modular patch bay, again ARTURIA has produced a product that will ‘play well with others’ as well as imbuing MINIBRUTE 2 with a sonic flexibility never before seen in a product of this type.
Then there is the RACKBRUTE an extremely innovative and flexible Eurorack case. Able to complement the new MINIBRUTE range through there new proprietary ‘ARTURIA LINK’ system or indeed work as a standalone powered modular case in either a 3u or 6u format. Arturia has broken new ground again with this range of integrated products. They will find a great many friends with their current audience, synthesists looking to dip their toes into Eurorack, as well as offering a flexible performance and studio integration system for the most grizzled of modular junkies.
