Fender 60th Anniversary Triple Pickup Jazzmaster Daphne Blue Overview

Fender 60th Anniversary Triple Pickup Jazzmaster Daphne Blue Overview by GAK

Expected August 2018

Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Alt-Rock Classic, the Mighty Fender Jazzmaster. Originally bought to market in 1958 designed by Freddie Tavares to address Leo Fender's need for an affordable Jazz guitar, it boasts one of the mellowist Neck Pickup sounds out there. That, coupled with the smooth vibrato from the floating tremolo unit, made for some interesting sounds, but never really found it's feet with Jazz musicians. Instead, when coupled with the "new" Fender tube driven spring reverb, the sound of surf music was created!

By the 1970's the "top of the range" Jazzmaster hadn't caught on and could be picked up in pawn shops for next to nothing compared to a Strat or Tele. Just as New Wave broke, the likes of Television, Elvis Costello and The Cure were picking up these guitars and using them in a different way. By the time Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Junior and My Bloody Valentine got around to using them, it was about as far from Jazz as you could get.

In recent years this guitar has almost become so synonamous with "alternative" music that it's secured a place alongside the bigger brothers, Stratocaster and Telecaster. Celebrating 60 years of offset-contour-body, Fender bring to market this unique 3 (Tim Shaw) Pickup design Jazzmaster, with a 9.5" Radius and 6105 style Tall/Narrow Vintage Frets, 5-way switching and Anniversary Neckplate and Case. Grab one before they're gone.

Overview by Fender

Sixty years ago, Leo Fender introduced the Fender Jazzmaster as the top-of-the-line electric guitar; later the sound and easily modi able style attracted counterculture players who rarely hesitated to personalize their instruments. A modern, triple-pickup take on this hip, classic instrument, the 60th Anniversary Triple Jazzmaster is an homage to the mod ethos that permeates the cult of the Jazzmaster. It’s  erce, it’s inspiring and it’s uniquely Fender.

Designed and voiced speci cally for the Triple Jazzmaster by pickup guru Tim Shaw, this calibrated pickup set sports sleek chrome Filter’TronTM covers. The throaty, powerful- sounding bridge pickup is matched to chiming neck and middle pickups for  exible sound. It wouldn’t be a Jazzmaster without some electronic twists, and this model features a standard 5-way pickup switch with traditional Strat® layout and a special 2-way toggle switch. This extra switch uses position 3 on the pickup selector to activate the neck and bridge pickups in tandem. The “‘60s Oval C”-shaped neck bears a 9.5”-radius  ngerboard with 21 narrow-tall frets for easy playability. Other authentic touches that grace the Triple Jazzmaster include a Jazzmaster tremolo bridge with lock button, screw-in arm and brass Mustang saddles, Pure Vintage single-line “Fender Deluxe” tuning machines, dual-wing string tree and 4-bolt vintage style neck plate engraved with a “60th Anniversary” logo.

Produced in limited quantities for 2018, the 60th Anniversary Triple Jazzmaster combines authentic looks, uniquely  exible wiring and brand-new humbucking pickups from Tim Shaw for a guitar that’s ready to rip it up on stage and off.
