Friedman Runt 50 Head Overview
The Friedman Runt 50 is a 50-watt all tube 2-channel head that delivers Friedman's legendary tone and versatility. The power section of the Runt 50 is driven by a pair of EL-34s and a quartet of 12AX7s in the preamp. The American-inspired clean channel features volume, bass, treble controls and there is also three-way bright switch which allows you to dial in anything anything from pristine cleans to a slightly broken-up blues/country tone.
The overdrive channel is the heart and soul of the Runt 50, delivering anything from classic rock to all-out high-gain metal. Aside from the gain knob, there is also a boost switch allowing you to dial in the perfect amount of overdrive. High-frequency response of the power section can be shaped by adjusting the global presence control. The Runt 50 is harmonically rich and cleans up beautifully by controlling the volume of your guitar. It is also designed with the use of pedals in mind.
The Runt is the first Friedman amplifier to feature a cab-simulated XLR output which allows you to run a direct out to a studio desk or front-of-house.
