Alesis Compact Kit 7 Tabletop Drum Kit Overview

Alesis CompactKit 7 Tabletop Drum Kit

Tabletop electronic drum kit with 7 velocity-sensitive drum pads, 265 percussion voices & 100 play-along songs.

The Alesis CompactKit 7 is a tabletop electronic drum kit with seven velocity-sensitive drum pads that deliver realistic drum sound with the feel and response of real drums. It also comes with two pedals for hi-hat and kick drum, so you'll really feel as if you're sitting down at an actual set. There are 100's of built-in percussion voices, preset drum kits and play-along songs, so you can get started right away with your own customised sound.

The 3-digit LED display shows the status of all your operational settings and separate LEDs light up in response to which pad is being struck, giving you instant visual feedback. The self-recording function records you as you play and retains the recording even after you turn the unit off. Want to expand your sound potential? Use the USB-MIDI output to connect CompactKit7 to your favorite DAW and plug-ins.

Sticks are included and so is an AC power supply. But you can take CompactKit 7 with you and play anywhere, by using 6 C batteries (not included).

I'm using this to record midi drums in Logic Pro X. All that works well, so I'm not very worried about the quality of the drum sounds - awful through the built in speakers, but what do you expect. Probably fine playing through an amp, as Alesis do good drum sounds. Just haven't tried that. Main beef is that the pads are not responsive, so doing press rolls is difficult - you have to hit very hard to get the sticks to bounce. If you have space and budget, get something like a nitro mesh kit. But, for the money, it does the job well.

Good drum machine for its size, bought it for some home recording using it with a Mackie Onyx 2.2 and samplitude’s music maker daw. Connecting through the instrument socket rather than usb. Would have been 5 stars if the kit had standard midi connection rather than usb.

Great fun to use, excellent value, only downside is volume could be better or easier to put through an amp

Seems to be perfect for my wife’s requirements. The kit is compact and has a fantasy number of kits and play along songs. The instructions could be better but most electronic items are pretty much over complicated these days and. require an electronics degree. Having said that this kit is good value and ideal for home use
