Alesis M1 Active MK3 Studio Monitor Overview

Alesis M1 Active MK3 Studio Monitor

Over  the  span  of  more  than  a  decade,  Alesis  monitors  have  established  an  enviable,  well-deserved reputation  for  accuracy  and  dependability  that  made  them  an  excellent  choice  for  professionaluse.  The original best-selling M1 monitors were perfect for almost any situation. Our latest generation, the M1 Active MK3,  features  advancements  in  studio  monitor  technology  that  bring  the  Alesis  M1  series  to  a  whole  new level of legendary unmatched professional sound.

Modern Aesthetics
The M1 Active MK3 studio monitor utilizes a beautiful new 5-inch aluminum woofer that is lighter and stiffer than typical carbon-fiber, paper or glass-Aramid woofers, giving the MK3 an even faster transient attack and more linear response through the bass and midrange. Additionally, a precision-designed waveguide provides high-frequency dispersion in a well-controlled, predictable pattern. This ensures a widened listening “sweetspot”—even well to the side (“off axis”) of the speaker—while at the same time preventing random scattering of  the  sound.  The  smoothly  radiused  “aerodynamic”  cabinet  edge  prevents  objectionably-audible  artifacts from  edge  diffraction  and  the  flared  front-firing  bass  ports  eliminate  distracting  port  turbulence  from  the speaker’s bass output

Pristine Clarity
With M1 Active MK3 studio monitors, you can listen, mix, and create with complete confidence that you’ll get the most accurate sound. The M1 Active MK3 monitors feature a wide frequency response (from 55-22 kHz, ±3dB),  so  you  can  hear  all  the  music  with  the  lifelike  realism  demanded  by  today’s  music.  The  M1  Active MK3  also  features  a  Class  A/B  45-watt  LF  amplifier/20-watt  HF  amplifier  for  smooth,  “gutsy”  performance and  generous  headroom  compared  to  ordinary  “digital”  amplifiers.  Additionally,  the  balanced  XLR+1/4” combo input allows for complete hookup flexibility for all of your favorite studio equipment.

These are excellent for the price and you should buy them if your'e on a budget. Pros - Big box for a 5" ? [11-1/2" high - 9" deep.. 7 /12" wide ] Nice and heavy MDF well made. Bass is BIG. I don't always need the sub on as they go down to 45hz or even 40. Obviously with the subwoofer on everything sounds amazing. My room is about 20 feet long by 13 wide. From the far end they fill the room with bass on their own. The front face is under rated it looks like that soft rubber and I wish it was solid rubber but it is plastic or maybe wood, coated with that rubbery looking stuff and it feels wicked, 'silky' ..so you want to stroke it. NICE TOUCH ALESIS The sound is clean and sharp like you expect from any good monitor, nice bright highs. I don't even have them pointing at my face but I can hear everything great in the center, they have a nice wide angle. I like that ACTIVE sign lighting up Nice bright blue light on the back Front firing ports are obviously a bonus as they are next to a wall but that does have a slight negative about it...... leading me to the Cons - The cone is 4" so why sell them as 5"? usually monitors may be half an inch smaller so but not a full inch. If they called them 4" I would have still bought them. When the bass is 'too high' you will hear the air flapping through the holes. [typical though] -- I had that also with the Yamaha HS5s .. the back hole 'rattled' at a higher pitch than the air sound I get from the M1s ] Remember though little speakers are not supposed to drive deep bass at full volume, these do really well with reason, better than any other little monitor I have had. No trim switches on the back was a surprise but for me it removes pointless buttons and simplifies my life. When you have all settled in you will love these speakers ;)
