Alesis Q Mini 32-Key USB Controller Keyboard Overview

The Alesis Qmini is a highly-portable and affordable USB controller keyboard. Its loaded with expressive features that’ll enable you to effortlessly compose and produce - wherever you take it. The included software suite is the icing on the cake! It’s part of the revitalised Q Series MKII range, which includes its larger siblings - the Q49 and Q88.

Produce Anywhere

The Qmini is a fantastic solution if you’re looking for a well-priced MIDI keyboard that has features that you’d find on larger and pricier models, have a cramped studio and need a capable controller that can slot in anywhere or you’re an on-the-go producer that needs a lightweight, portable option.

Simple Setup

Thanks to the Alesis Qmini’s USB capabilities, getting it set up and working with your software of choice couldn’t be easier. You don’t need to worry about bulky power supplies as it runs off of USB. The plug-and-play connectivity means the Qmini is instantly compatible with any music software or DAW that accepts MIDI controllers. If you’ve got a Camera Connection Kit, you can hook it up to your iOS device.

Express Yourself

The 32 mini-keys feature a smooth synth-action that’s a breeze to play as well as velocity-sensitivity, allowing the nuance and expression of your playing to come through. The Alesis Qmini boasts a slightly larger keyboard than many of its rivals, which is great if you need some extra range.

Slick Performance Controls

There’s a panel on the left-hand side of the Alesis Qmini, which provides you with immediate access to the performance controls. First up are the two-octave buttons, which allow you to transition across a wide note-range in no time at all. Next, we have the modulation, pitch-up and pitch-down buttons for intuitive hardware-style control of your software synths/instruments. Whilst the Q mini’s knob is labelled “volume”, it can be easily reassigned to other controls such as a softsynth’s Cutoff or track’s pan setting in your DAW. Finally, we have the Sustain button - emulates the function of a traditional sustain pedal without having to plug one in! Perfect for those sprawling piano melodies (or ambient drones).
