Casio AP-470 Celviano Digital Piano, Black Overview
Casio Celviano AP-470 Black Digital Piano overview from GAK
Casio's Celviano range is a family of practical digital pianos that with the utmost attention to detail and sound tech, offering the playability and sound quality of high-end traditional pianos and the practicality and functionality of modern digitals.
The AP-470 features scaled hammer action keys for a superb response, 18 harmonically rich voices produced by Casio's AiR Sound Source technology, 60 play-along tracks and an onboard 2 track recorder to capture those moments of inspiration.
The onboard piano sounds on the AP-470 are created with Casio's advanced AiR Sound Source technology, the result is an unparalleled level of realism and expression across a range of voices including four Grand piano samples integrated with Casio's proprietary Linear Morphing System. electric pianos sourced from Casio’s award-winning PX-5S, organs, harpsichord, strings and other voices to suit a wide range of genres and styles. String resonance and raised damper simulation give further texture and realism to the AP-470's piano tones, backed up by an array of intuitive effects and functions such as the 'Hall Simulation' function.
The AP-470's Hall Simulation function replicates the acoustic properties of a range of spaces such as the available 'Berlin Hall' and 'French Cathedral'. The AP-470's 4 available Hall Simulation options sit alongside 4 additional reverbs, whilst four available 'Chorus' effects emulate the classic detuned sounds synonymous with popular piano models from the 70's. Furthermore, you are given access to Brilliance and DSP built into various tones too.
'Concert Play' gives you the ability to play along to ten recorded orchestral pieces, with an option to include or remove the piano part and slow down the music without affecting pitch. For further learning, there are a large number of other ensemble style tracks in a range of genres and styles to play along to (without the option of removing or including piano). Duet mode allows you to split the piano into two equal pitch ranges for teaching, two voices can be layered atop of one another and the key array can be split down the centre with two separate voices for ensemble style playing. With an onboard two-track MIDI recorder the AP-470 gives you a number of recording options such as recording two separate sounds on top of one another, recording the left and right keys sections independently and recording your Concert Play sessions.
The AP-470 has 88 expertly crafted keys, each key features a Tri-Sensor II Scaled Hammer Action that provides a weight against the applied pressure to accommodate every subtle nuance in expressive levels of playing. Both the touch sensitivity and hammer response are adjustable, so you can fine-tune your keys to suit any playing style. The full Celviano range also features simulated ebony and ivory key tops that give each key a textured feel close to that of a traditional acoustic piano.
Two separate headphone ports allow for quiet practice on the AP-470 whilst the onboard amplified speakers are loud and crystal clear for live performances, the AP-470 has clear top end and deep bass, with zero distortion even at higher volumes.
With a superb sound derived from Casio's class-leading technology and a beautifully crafted and compact cabinet, ideal for the stage, practise room or classroom, the Casio Ap-470 is a highly powerful and highly versatile digital piano suited to the budding amateur and the seasoned professional.
