The Cranborne Audio N22 Cat 5 Snake and breakout box is a high-fidelity, cost-effective and convenient way to distribute analogue audio around the studio or stage whilst keeping your space tidy. What sets the N22 breakout box apart from the rest is the C.A.S.T. audio distribution system. This innovative system is Cranborne Audio’s proprietary design and replaces 4 balanced XLR cables with a shielded Cat 5e, Cat 6 or Cat 7 cable.

With just one cable, you can send 4 channels of sonically superb analogue audio at a distance of up to 100m (330ft). An advantage of using a Cat cable, aside from saving on cable clutter, is that it preserves the integrity of your signal no high-end roll-off and low-crosstalk.

The N22 is also a totally passive device, meaning no external power is needed to transmit your audio over a long distance.

Reduce Cable Clutter

Two N22 C.A.S.T. breakout boxes can work in tandem with each other. With a pair of N22 boxes and one readily available network cable, to transport 4 channels of analogue audio and 48v phantom power between two distant locations. The power of the C.A.S.T. system gives you unparalleled flexibility as an engineer, all whilst saving on annoying cable spaghetti. You can place an N22 in the studio to bridge the gap between your live room and audio interface. Use it as part of a live rig to connect your desk to your power amps. It can even be used to link your surround sound speakers to your home cinema system.

C.A.S.T. Ready

If your studio is equipped with other C.A.S.T. enabled devices like the Cranborne Audio 500R8 or 500ADAT, you can use one or more N22 snake and breakout boxes to expand them. With one Cat 5 cable, you can send audio via the N22’s combi inputs to the audio interface during recording whilst sending a stereo mix from the 500R8/500ADAT back through the C.A.S.T. connection for reamping or monitoring.
