Epiphone 1961 Les Paul SG Standard, Aged '60s Cherry Overview

The SGs are one of the most iconic and beloved guitars models in the music world, being completely unmistakable and timeless. The Epiphone 1961 LP Standard take inspiration from the Gibson models and recreates the original SG with impressive construction and hardware.

The Epiphone SG is crafted with a classic two-piece Mahogany, double-cutaway body. Gibson has been a renowned user of this tonewood for their SGs, due to its rich tones and great sustain. Finished in a stunning Aged 60s Cherry, its lightweight body delivers the powerful tones that you can expect from an SG.

The solid Mahogany SlimTaper “C” Shaped neck goes back to the early legendary SG models, made for fast-playing, comfort, and an overall amazing playing experience. Topped with a Laurel fretboard and Trapezoid inlays, this model boasts the historically accurate design of the '61 SG.

The Epiphone SG Standard is equipped with Gibson BurstBucker humbucker pickups that deliver a host of authentic Gibson tones, from punchy and thick to clean and smooth. Its premium hardware offers a variety of vintage-inspired tones, wired to 2 volume/2 tone CTS potentiometers and Mallory Capacitors, a Graph Tech nut, a Switchcraft output jack and toggle switch,

The Epiphone 1961 Standard SG is also accompanied by a vintage-style hardshell case.

The Epiphone 1961 Les Paul Standard pays tribute to the original SGs with vintage-inspired construction and hardware, perfectly embodying one of the most recognizable guitar designs of all time.

I 've been wanting a Gibson SG for some time. After looking at the reviews and spec of this Epiphone re-issue of the 61 les paul version i could not see a reason not to buy this. When it arrived i really cannot fault it and i can't see how the Gibson version could be better. I doubt anyone could tell the difference in a double blind test. More than happy will it 5 stars.??
