Epiphone Inspired by 1964 Texan, Vintage Cherry Overview

The Epiphone Texan is a legendary acoustic and now it's back and better than ever!

Originally introduced in 1958, the Texan went on to be the guitar that Paul McCartney wrote "Yesterday" on. Now, Epiphone brings back this Advanced Jumbo (AJ) guitar and gives it a few modern tweaks.

Unlike the regular dreadnought, the Texan has round shoulders, giving it a smaller waist and slightly bigger lower bout so it almost resembles a bell shape. The important bit is that this gives it a more balanced tone with shimmering highs, deeper lows and clearer mid-range. It's a guitar that's perfect for singer/songwriters and other soloists. Just like the original, the new Texan features a premium solid Spruce top with a solid Mahogany back and sides.

But there's where the Texan starts adding some new twists. First, the saddle has been updated and compensated. Unlike the original adjustable style, this saddle gives you better intonation providing better tuning, plus provides better string to body vibration transfer. Epiphone also adds a Shadow Sonic preamp system with revolutionary under-saddle NanoFlex pickup. To keep with the vintage vibe the preamp is discretely mounted inside the sound hole. The preamp is also super simple to use with just an easy-access volume control combined with high and low EQ. There's also a "phase" switch to help cut feedback.

Here's what Epiphone have to say about their Nanoflex plck-up..
The Nanoflex pickup is the only pickup that senses both the vibrations of the strings and the movements of the soundboard simultaneously. The sound is truly "acoustic" combining accurate body and string tone with percussive attack. It's like having a microphone mixed with an under saddle pickup! Due to active amplification directly at the pickup and 100% shielding of the entire system, there is no signal loss and no "hum" created. A battery indicator LED turns on when the battery is low and should be replaced within 30 minutes. Powered by two 2032 lithium batteries, the complete system is extremely light and weighs far less than ordinary 9V systems. A premium Shadow output jack is incorporated into the endpin jack. The new Inspired by 1964 Texan acoustic/electric reproduces a vintage classic while providing years of worry-free enjoyment. Take one home today and fall in love with the Texan - again.
