Epiphone Hummingbird Performer PRO LTD Dreadnought Electro Acoustic, Ebony Overview

The legendary Hummingbird gets a Cutaway! The Hummingbird acoustic guitar was first released in 1960 and was the first Gibson & Epiphone dreadnaught guitar. With its distinctive "square" shoulder, it quickly became a rock classic thanks in part to Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones who used a Hummingbird on hits like "Play With Fire" and "Under My Thumb." Today, the Hummingbird is still considered a superb rhythm guitar for its woody tone and easy action along with its distinctive "Hummingbird" pickguard. Now with Shadow's ePerformer preamp and NanoFlex pickup system, you can plug in the Hummingbird Performer PRO and get true acoustic tone on any size stage.

The Hummingbird Performer PRO Acoustic/Electric has a select Mahogany body and a Solid Spruce top with a beautiful cutaway never seen before on a Hummingbird. Spruce is a rich and complex tonewood that will sound even better as it ages. The more you play, the better it sounds! The select Mahogany neck has 24.75" scale and a classic SlimTaper D profile and is attached to the body with a glued-in dovetail joint. The Rosewood fingerboard has pearloid parallelogram inlays, 20 medium frets, a 12" radius, and a 1.69" nut. There is white binding on the fingerboard and 5-ply white & black binding on the body top. The classic sloped dovewing headstock has Epiphone "Deluxe" 18:1 machine heads and the iconic "Epiphone" logo in white. The Hummingbird Performer PRO Acoustic/Electric's reverse belly rosewood bridge has a compensated saddle for smooth action and intonation. And the pickguard has the same vintage "Hummingbird" design as the first generation of Hummingbird acoustics from the early 60s.

For more than a decade, Epiphone and Shadow Germany have worked together to perfect a pickup that can amplify an acoustic guitar on any size stage without sacrificing tone. Controls for the Shadow ePerformer Preamp are on the upper bout and include controls for Master Volume, Treble and Bass EQ, Mute, and a Dynamics control adjusted via a frequency curve. The preamp is powered by two 2032 batteries and a low battery indicator is included. The output jack and strap locks are nickel and the Hummingbird Performer PRO Acoustic/Electric is strung at the Epiphone factory with time-tested D'Addario Phosphor (12-53) strings.
