Epiphone PRO-1 Plus Acoustic Guitar, Natural Overview

Epiphone PRO-1 Plus Acoustic Guitar Overview by GAK:

Ask any player about learning guitar and you’ll often hear comments like: “I could never get it in tune,” “My fingers hurt too much,” and “It was hard to play so I just gave up.” Epiphone listened—and the Epiphone PRO-1 Acoustic Collection provides the solution.   Drawing on a combined 260 years of experience, Epiphone and Gibson luthiers have re-invented the acoustic guitar to create an instrument that’s easy enough to get started on, but which sounds so good you’ll keep playing it all your life.

Creating a truly easy-to-play guitar wasn’t easy.  And at Epiphone, we take making a great guitar seriously, no matter what the player’s level. So Epiphone rethought the guitar from top to bottom to make an instrument that anyone can play right away.  The result is a truly “PRO” guitar that’s easy-to-play, easy-to-own, and most importantly, delivers the full, vibrant sound that Epiphone is known for.  The PRO-1 Plus acoustic guitar is the result of exhaustive analysis, numerous technological innovations, and suggestions from a “who’s who” of professional players.

The PRO-1 Plus is a dreadnought style acoustic guitar with a Solid Spruce top. The Dreadnought design is one of the most revered styles of acoustic instruments.  For acoustic guitars, a Solid Spruce top is one of the most popular tonewoods and one that Epiphone has used to make superb acoustic instruments since the 1930s. The PRO-1 Plus also features 5-layer Ivory and Black binding around the body top and Ivory binding on the body back and fingerboard for the same classic look found on historic Epiphones like the Inspired by “1964” Texan. For your PRO-1 Plus, you’ll find that over time, a Solid Spruce top will develop an even bigger “voice” as it ages, giving players that classic “vintage” Epiphone sound that has inspired everyone from The Beatles to Gary Clark Jr.

While traditional-sized dreadnoughts can be difficult for a new player to get used to, the PRO-1 Plus sets a new standard with a reduced body depth, which makes the PRO-1 Plus easy to hold for long hours of playing.  Another innovation the PRO-1 Plus offers is a shorter scale, which makes learning chords and licks faster. PRO-Ease™ Lubricant makes the neck feel smooth and “worn in” on your fingers, and JumboPRO™ frets make it easy to hold down Epiphone’s custom light gauge strings.

A guitar that plays this easy has to be able to get in tune and stay in tune in a snap. The PRO-1 Plus features Epiphone’s Deluxe tuners which have 18:1 ratio tuning gears that make finding the right pitch quick and intuitive. Ordinary tuners have only a 14:1 ratio, which makes fine tuning difficult, as the string never quite settles in the right place.  But tuning is easy with the PRO-1 Plus because the higher 18:1 gear ratio lets you adjust your tuning with greater precision so it’s easier to find the right pitch and stay there. The PRO 1 Plus has a newly designed EZ-String™ Rosewood bridge that doesn’t use bridge pins. Bridge pins are notorious for being difficult to remove and difficult to seat into the bridge (not to mention easy to lose!).  So changing a string on the PRO 1 Plus and getting it in tune is fast and easy.

Your new PRO-1 Plus will stay looking good longer thanks to Epiphone’s exclusive “scratchfree” pickguard that is resistant to pick damage.  Each PRO-1 Plus also includes a humidifier to help keep your guitar’s moisture level just right.  And, the Solid Spruce top with Custom PRO-Prietary™ Bracing is “sealed” to help further protect your PRO-1 Plus against environmental changes such as extreme humidity or dryness.

After doing a bit of on-line research I opted for this as my first guitar. Am pleased with the purchase seems to do the job, but I am by no means an expert . YET!!!
