Epiphone Slash J-45, Vermillion Burst Overview

The Epiphone Slash J-45 takes the classic acoustic guitar and puts a fresh spin on it by giving the look, playability and tone the Slash treatment. This J-45 is part of Epiphone’s Slash Collection and the Inspired by Gibson series. This fruitful collaboration between the renowned builder and the guitar icon delivers high-quality, affordable versions of guitars Slash used throughout his incredible career.

Beautiful Tonewoods

At the core of the Epiphone Slash J-45’s punchy, bold and resonant tone is its all-solid wood construction. Tonewood choice, especially when it comes to acoustic instruments, is essential and the Epiphone Slash J-45 is no slouch with its genuine Mahogany back & sides and solid Sitka Spruce top.

Sitka Spruce and Mahogany is one of the best acoustic guitar pairings, boasting rich mids, warm bass and plenty of unplugged projection. It’s also one of the most versatile tonewood combinations, excelling at both fingerstyle and picked playing.

Premium Pickup

Epiphone has kitted out the Slash J-45 with LR Bagg’s acclaimed VTC acoustic pickup system, the same one found in the Gibson version. The VTC’s under-saddle pickup and preamp beautifully amplify the Epiphone Slash J-45’s acoustic voice, effectively translating the nuance, dynamics and delicacy of your playing when plugged in.

In addition to delivering a lively and natural sound, the VTC system is highly durable and features a sleek soundhole-based design that preserves the guitar’s vintage aesthetic.

It’s So Easy (To Play)

One of the standout features of the Epiphone Slash J-45 is its Mahogany neck, which features a Slash-approved custom Rounded C-Shape profile and a flatter 16" radius. The robust C profile and modern radius present an elegant, comfortable playing experience that’s a nice alternative to the traditional J-45 neck. Whether you’re playing chugging rhythms, picked arpeggios or bluesy leads, this neck is going to feel fantastic.

The smooth Indian Laurel fretboard is topped luxurious Mother of Pearl inlays with 20 Medium Jumbo frets, which allow you to pull off expressive Slash-style bends with ease.

Solid Hardware

Epiphone’s Slash J-45 is outfitted with top-quality hardware, guaranteeing precise intonation and exceptional tuning stability. Hardware-wise, the Epiphone Slash J-45 is practically identical to its Gibson sibling, from the Grover Rotomatic tuners to the Graph Tech TUSQ nut & saddle.

Plenty Of Attitude

Across the Epiphone Slash J-45 are subtle visual appointments that make it stand out from the pack and give it a proper rock 'n roll attitude. This includes a rustic pickguard-free top, a “Skully” drawing on the rear of the headstock and Slash’s iconic signature on the truss road cover.

Epiphone Slash J-45 comes in a couple of finishes, so you can choose the perfect one to match your unique style. This version comes in a striking red-to-black Vermillion Burst, a special finish that’s only found on Slash signature models. This guitar also comes in November Burst, a classy finish that harkens back to the old-school Gibson J-45.

Free Hardcase

Alongside the Epiphone Slash J-45, you also receive a custom hardshell case that’s adorned with Slash’s “Skully” logo. This rugged hard case is handy when you want to safely store your Slash J-45 or transport it to your rehearsal, gig or studio session.

Crafted from top-notch tonewoods and equipped with pro-level components, there’s no doubt that the Epiphone Slash J-45 is a great all-round workhorse electro-acoustic that’s outstanding value for money. If you need a guitar that’s primed for gigs, sounds excellent recorded and can be an inspiring songwriting tool, you can’t go wrong with the Epiphone Slash J-45.
