Fender 1963 Bass VI, Sunburst, Second-Hand
Fender 1963 Bass VI, Sunburst, Second-Hand Overview by GAK.
In 1961 Fender introduced a 6 string bass called the Bass VI which was designed to attract bass players and guitarist alike with its tuning of a standard guitar, but an octave lower. This gained traction amongst many artists such as Cream’s Jack Bruce and The Shadows’ Jet Harris who decided to expand upon traditional 4 string bass playing by exploring the soloing capabilities of the bass VI. Heavily influenced by the comfort-contoured offset body design of the Jazzmaster and the narrow nut size of the Jazz bass this was a very bold, eye catching instrument for the time.
