Fender American Performer Stratocaster, Maple, Penny Overview

The history of Fender's most famous instrument is one of inspirational design, skilled craftmanship, sonic evolution, and highly talented artists. This is the guitar that has been involved in practically every major musical shift, event, and milestone since its introduction in 1954, and as part of Fender's American Performer range - a series of expertly crafted American models with accessible price tags - the American Performer Stratocaster updates the original design to provide an authentic looking, but modern, reliable, and extremely playable instrument.

Staying true to its classic years, the superbly sculptured Alder body feels tight, resonant, and comfortable, while the eye-catching Penny urethane finish ensures that the guitar not only looks spectacular, but is also prepared for both the rigours of the road, and years of ownership. The comfortable Modern “C” shaped Maple neck is also finished in smooth but tough urethane, which is perfectly complimented by the 9.5" radius Maple fingerboard; 22 jumbo frets add to the instrument's positive and highly playable feel.

Handcrafted in Corona, California, the three Yosemite pickups (Double Tap™ Humbucker in the bridge, and Stratocaster® Single-Coils in the mid and neck) have been specifically voiced for each position, and their lively tones will make even the most fervent Strat aficionado feel at home. Sonic versatility is further enhanced by the push-pull pot control, which unlocks single-coil tones from the bridge pickup without amy loss to volume, and Fender's excellent Greasebucket Tone System - a unique design which allows treble cut without loss of gain or a "muddied" sound. Other features include new 18:1 ratio ClassicGear Tuning Machines, a synthetic bone nut, classic dot inlays, and a 6-Saddle Vintage-Style Synchronized Tremolo.

Entry level USA made Stratocaster. Don’t bother with any other model, an outstanding guitar for the price. The Yosemite pickups are very good, body is lightweight and resonant, the finish is excellent. Fret work is tidy, it came set up beautifully. The satin neck is smooth and very comfortable, neck pocket is tight. I own Custom shop Fenders, this runs them close at half the price. If you want a nitro finish then look elsewhere but that is the only downside. Incredible guitar for under £1k.
