With this 1960 Stratocaster, the Fender Custom Shop have proved once again why their guitars are amongst the most revered and sought-after. Whilst it appears to have the timeless look and classic tone of a vintage '60s Strat, its contemporary playability is what separates it from the pack.

Selected Tonewoods

At the heart of this Fender Custom Shop 1960 Strat’s tone is its specially-selected tonewoods. The 2-piece body is carved from Alder, a stape Fender tonewood that’s renowned for its full-bodied, balanced and versatile sound. Complimenting the Alder body is a beautiful AAA Flame Maple neck, which has been roasted to give it an alluring colour as well as improve its stability and durability.

Effortless Playability

The neck is adorned with a glass-like AAA Rosewood fretboard that was handpicked for its distinctively dark appearance. The fretboard features a compound radius, transitioning from an old-school 7.25" to a more modern 9.5" as you climb the neck. This gives you the best of both worlds - comfortable chording in the lower registers as well as effortless bending and vibrato at the dusty end. Rounding out this Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster’s fluid playability are the 21 Jumbo 6100 frets, which make string bends a breeze whilst enhancing sustain and tone.

Electrifying this 1960 Stratocaster’s sweet natural voice are a trio of Custom Shop '60s Strat pickups. As you’d expect, these single-coils deliver exceptional crispness and articulation. Whether you prefer running straight into the amp or a fleet of effects pedals, play pristine clean or with lashings of drive - you can count on these pickups to convey the detail and nuance of your playing. The Vintage Modified Strat #1 wiring diverts from the traditional, as it allows you to you tame the highs of the bridge pickup with the second tone control.

The Fender Custom Shop have given this 1960 Stratocaster their Heavy Relic treatment. This is the most intensive of their ageing processes and imparts the endearing, battle-hardened character of a vintage instrument that’s been rigorously played over the decades. This is exemplified by the back of the neck, which has the inviting, satin-smooth feel of a properly played-in neck.
