Gibson Custom Standard Historic 1958 Les Paul Standard Heavy Aged (Beauty of the Burst p.94) Overview

Gibson Custom Standard Historic 1958 Les Paul Standard Heavy Aged Overview by GAK:

This finish on this beauty is based one of our favourite examples of an original '59 Sunburst Les Pauls featured in Yasuhiko Iwande's 'Beauty of the Burst' book- the one on p.94 to be precise! it's a true beauty! Also the in-house Heavy Ageing process is amazing.

Standard Historic spec includes the following improvements over previous incarnations of Historic guitars: a one-piece rosewood fingerboard, Kluson Deluxe machine heads, hot-hide glue neck fit, a Historic Truss Rod assembly with no tubing, accurate body and fingerboard binding colour, Custom Bucker pickups and period-correct Aniline dye. Also hide glue is used for the fingerboard and there is an anniversary badge on the back of the guitar on the pickup selector cover.

Created in the image of the original PAFs, Gibson Custom's already legendary Custom Bucker accurately recreates the original PAFs of the late '50s, using Alnico III magnets and unequal turns of 42 AWG wire in each coil for that characteristic PAF "bite." On this particular guitar the bridge pickup is uncovered (with two black bobbins) and the neck pickup has an aged nickel cover, we've seen a few original '59s like this. These pickups clean up beautifully at the guitar's volume controls, while Bumble Bee tone caps assist in that warm, singing "woman tone" when you roll back the tone controls. To top it all off, the Standard Historic Les Paul Standard Reissues play superbly right out of its Custom Shop hardshell case thanks to a trip through one of Gibson's state-of-the-art Plek machines before it leaves the Custom Shop floor.
