With a slim mahogany body and carved maple top, you get the classic shape and aesthetics of many of Gibson's other Les Pauls without the issue of dealing with weight. The beveled shape of the back allows the body to sit very comfortably when strapped on making the Gibson 2014 Les Paul Melody Maker a pleasure to play. The glued-in maple '50s neck isn't quite as chunky as were found on early Les Pauls but feels considerably fatter than its '60s counterpart. Topping it off is a rosewood fingerboard with 22 cryogenically tempered corrosion-resistant frets.
The Gibson 2014 Les Paul Melody Maker's bridge and neck P-90S pickups are fitted with Alnico Slug magnets and they give you a massive tonal range. These pickups have been tweaked for 2014 with improved clarity and dynamics. Some players are already saying they could be Gibsons most versatile pickup to date.
