I cannot speak more highly of this guitar. After playing for the last 15 years I decided to take the plunge and buy something that would really compliment my playing and do the things I wanted my guitar to do. Very simply this is; to project whilst I busk or perform in small cafes and bars, to have enough low end to compliment my mid range voice, not diminish in quality of sound with a capo past the 5th fret, to sound clear and ring when fingerpicking but not break up when strummed.....and not look too fancy! This guitar does all of this and more, it really works for you and just makes you want to play. The nature in which it arrived meant that it was straight out of the box and into a gig with me, I put alot of faith in it and it did not disappoint. The pickup system itself its a very true reputation of the guitar and is a great quality system. I have since replaced it for a Fishman Rare Earth, more because that is the system that I'm used to and not due to the LR Baggs lacking in quality. The workmanship is faultless and the tonewoods used are beautiful, the poppy nature of the spruce really compliments the more mellow rounded tones of the walnut. The slightly thinner body is a pleasure under the arm. I found some dreadnaughts a bit too thick for my liking, from what I can tell the depth difference really has no effect on volume. With it being a solid wood guitar I know it'll just get better with time and I look forward to many happy years of playing with my J45 Studio. I've read reviews that say this guitar may not be around for long as the quality even better than the standard J45 so snap them up while you can!
