Always a favourite with "alternative" musicians, the double cut Les Paul Special with twin P-90s is something to be revered. This reissue of its 1960 Cherry Red incarnation is everything, and more, that you'd expect from such a timeless favourite.

Mahogany body, Mahogany neck, Rosewood fingerboard - they may be standard issue for many Gibson classics, but when you play one of these guitars it's not difficult to see why this combination has become so prevailing. A period correct fast playing Slim Taper neck, Custom Shop P-90 pickups, CTS potentiometers, paper-in-oil capacitors, Kluson tuners, Top Hat knobs, and a nitrocellulose finish not only give this inspiring instrument the feel and look of its 1960 counterpart, but also provide a sound which can extend all the way from a crystal clear sparkle to the grit and growl that these pickups, especially when placed in these guitars, are so famous for.

The Les Paul Junior and Special were revised in 1958 to have double cutaways and more fingerboard access, but the Special didn't really hit its groove until 1960, when the lower pickup placement and slim neck taper made it more robust and easier to play than ever.
