Gibson USA 2018 Flying V, Aged Cherry, Left Handed Overview

Gibson USA 2018 Flying V aged Cherry overview by GAK

The Flying V is a testament to Gibson's daring approach to design and innovation. Introduced back in the 1950's the Flying V was a bold leap for Gibson into the world of contemporary design and sci-fi inspired modernism, a 'High-Class Heavy Metal' machine.

The 2018 Flying V's body is constructed of solid mahogany giving it generous resonance and deep low-end. The Neck is also mahogany which is a great joy to many Gibson fans (The same all-mahogany build can be found on many of the Gibson 2018 range). Scale length rocks in at just under 25 inches with a fingerboard top material of Torrefied Granadillo. The fingerboard material is a straight grained Cuban wood hailed as "the wood that sings", to the trained ear, it gives the Flying V a slightly brighter tone than Rosewood.

With a slim taper neck, the Flying V is a petite and light-weight shred and solo machine without compromising on the overall strength and rigidity of the guitar. Combined with the unique pyramid frame of the body, the Flying V can be slung around every which way, on stage or in the studio.

The frets on the 2018 Flying V have been cryogenically treated, a process that distributes the metal in a precisely even way resulting in increased strength, durability and rust resistance.

Emulating that classic tone from the early Gibson PAF (Patent Applied For) pickups, the Flying V is equipped with Burstbucker 2, a pickup similar to that of a '57 classic PAF, brightness paired with plenty of bite. The second Burstbucker 3 pickup contains more windings and is the highest output Burstbucker Gibson produce, providing even more bite whilst still holding onto that classic PAF tone and all the history that comes with it.

The Gibson Flying V features trusted hardware including their Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminium stop bar. The headstock features silver kidney Grover tuners and a sleek looking white logo plate dressed with the classic script logo. Control knobs on the Flying V are black hats with silver inserts, complimenting the vivid white 4ply pickguard.

Pick up the Gibson 2018 Flying V in a beautiful 'Aged Cherry' gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish and get ready to turn some heads. New for 2018, GAK are proud to present the new Gibson USA range of electric guitars!

Originally introduced in 1958 as part of Gibson's Modernist series, the Flying V was one a revolution and it's distinct 'V' body shape has become a true icon in the guitar world.

The Gibson USA 2018 Flying V , Aged Cherry, Left Handed is Gibson's latest offering of this classic model. Constructed using a set-neck join from genuine Mahogany for both the body and neck, the result is a tone that is rich in low-mids and sustain. The fretboard is torrefied Granadillo, which is known as 'the wood that sings' and although similar in terms of tone to Rosewood it does have a touch more brightness, which balances well with the Mahogany body and neck. The neck profile is slim taper, perfect for fast shred and high intensity playing!

Pickups are Gibson Burstbucker humbuckers which have the classic bite and growl you would expect on a rock machine like the Flying V!

Includes Gibson fitted hardcase.

What a great guitar. Great wood, great sound, really nice edition to the collection. Being a Gibson if not in stock expect a long wait but a true quality instrument when finally arrives.
