Gibson RD Artist, 1979, Sunburst, Second-Hand
Gibson RD Artist, 1979, Sunburst, Second-Hand Overview by GAK.
The Gibson RD Artist has become a very rare and collectible guitar, these were the first series of guitars and basses in Gibson's history to feature electronic circuitry as a way of keeping up with the craze for keyboards and synths. Featuring a maple body, 3 piece mahogany neck, Ebony fretboard, active electronics designed by Bob Moog and two 3 way selector switches, one for standard 3 way pickup selection and the other for the 3 way mode selection (Neutral, Bright and front pickup expansion with back pickup compression).
Fair condition with a replacement trem system, this can be switched back to the standard bridge assembly leaving only two small screws marks in the body. The original parts are not supplied, but modern replacement parts can be sourced. The guitar is from the time period when Gibson were making guitars with very low wide frets, this can sometimes feel like a fretless guitar.
Inc Original Case.
