Gretsch G6118T-LIV Players Edition Anniversary 2-Tone Lotus Ivory and Charcoal Metallic Overview

Classic looks and a unique tone are just two of many indisputable qualities that Gretsch have become renowned for during their incredible history, and having more than its fair share of both, the Gretsch G6118T-LIV Players Edition Anniversary certainly pays tribute to this ongoing legacy.

Combining a rich heritage with modern functionality, the Gretsch G6118T Players Edition Anniversary will certainly not disappoint either the modern guitar player looking for a touch of classic tone, or the Gretsch afionado looking for a reliable but limited edition "go anywhere" instrument. The Laminate Maple body is finished with a glorious Lotus Ivory/Charcoal Metallic finish, which is perfectly complimented by crisp chrome hardware, and the comfortable, standard U shape Maple neck supports a lush Rosewood fingerboard with Pearloid Thumbnail inlays. Pickups are high sensitive Filter'Tron humbuckers; incredible response and definition with a superb dynamic range. The addition of the all new Gretsch Squeezebox paper-in-oil capacitors ensures a classic vintage tone is easily found, but one which due to a treble bleed circuit, offers distinctive clarity at any volume setting. The classic Gretsch performance and aesthetic is finished off with a Bigsby B6CP vibrato unit.

What Gretsch say:

At the intersection of innovation and tribute you'll find the G6118T Players Edition Anniversary with String-Thru Bigsby guitar that honors its inspirational past while remaining firmly rooted in the future of music. Engineered for optimum performance and responsiveness it reacts instantly to your every musical move, not just earning, but demanding a place in your sonic arsenal.

A pair of High Sensitive Filter'Tron humbucking pickups responds to every note dynamically snarling or purring according to how hard you strike the strings. The control complement separate bridge and neck volume controls, three-way pickup switching, No-Load master tone and also a master volume allows for near-infinite tonal variations. The all-new Gretsch "Squeezebox" paper-in-oil caps add smooth vintage tone while the treble bleed circuit lets your guitar retain all of its tasty clarity when rolling the volume control down. The standard "U"-shaped maple neck bears a 12"-radius rosewood fingerboard with 21 durable medium jumbo frets for a memorable playing experience that works with any fret-hand style. A pinned "rocking" bar bridge reacts in concert with the Bigsby B6CP vibrato tailpiece for stable tuning while the teflon-impregnated GraphTech® Tusq XL nut lets the strings slide freely, without binding in the slots. A thinner, 2.25" body provides maximum comfort during long sets while the innovative Gretsch "ML" bracing allows the guitar to retain that rich, full hollow body sound. In a uniquely Gretsch touch, the Bigsby tailpiece is now string-through, making it quicker (and easier) to change strings as well as providing increased vibration transfer for enhanced sustain.

An incredible guitar, the kind of exceptional quality you'd expect from Gretsch. Gak were brilliant too. Made the purchase so easy and were so very helpful on live chat with narrowing down my search. They got me an incredible deal, matching the best price I'd found online and also threw in a bunch of goodies. All delivered the very next day. Perfect all round.

Everything I hoped it would be - despite the large dimensions this is an easy guitar to play, with an unmistakeable hollow-body tone. However don't write this off as just for Country/Rockabilly - I'm using it predominantly for Rock and its working great. Furthermore the finish is flawless and the tuning stability is exemplary. Overall a killer axe.
