Gretsch G9531E Style 3 Grand Concert Electro-Acoustic, Appalachia Cloudburst Overview

Gretsch G9531E Style 3 Grand Concert Electro-Acoustic, Appalachia Cloudburst Overview.

Rich in voice and style, ROOTS COLLECTION Acoustic Guitars represent a level of design, detail and craftsmanship not seen since days long gone. Inspired by tradition, yet rooted in pure Gretsch sensibility, these instruments speak with voices that harken back to a bygone era of 'living room' choruses and prairie melodies. Dressed to impress with a stunning Rosewood headcap with pearl logo and upgraded pearl inlay design, the G9531E-GCFSR Style 3 Double-0 model sounds out loud with a big, rich bass that is full and under control. The high-end is very liquid; not too fast and folds into the tone with a nice, decaying bloom that seems to float through the room.

Very well made guitar. I was looking for a small parlour guitar and did actually return this item, only because it was rather larger than I was looking for, hence the loss of one star. The guitar was set up ready to play with a reasonably low action and good tone. This was my first encounter with a Gretsch acoustic and was favourably impressed.

This guitar attracted me for both the look and the price. It was almost an impulse purchase and I rarely do that. When it arrived I was amazed again for this quality for so little money. It sounds beautiful both with the Fishman pickup and without. The finishing is outstanding. Then the mystery began. I could find no info on the Gretsch website. So I contacted Gretsch. They provided me with a wealth of details but what stood out was that it was a short run, hand made guitar. I feel very lucky to have bought this amazing little acoustic.
