Ibanez AVC11 Artwood Vintage Grand Concert Acoustic, Antique Natural Semi-Gloss Overview

Ibanez AVC11 Artwood Vintage Grand Concert Acoustic, Antique Natural Semi-Gloss

For many years, Ibanez have been well-known for their ground-breaking electric and hollow-body guitars, but they also make stunning acoustics that push the boundaries of design, build and value. The AVC11 is no exception to this.
As a guitar from the Vintage Thermo Aged line, the incredible mahogany and spruce tonewoods that give the AVC11 its gorgeous tones are very carefully 'baked' with a thermal treatment that artifically ages the woods, bringing out the richer, more articulate tones that you would normally only associate with a guitar that had been played for years. This allows the guitar to deliver, from brand new, the amazing vintage tones so many of us covet in an acoustic instrument.
Combine the above with high-end appointments such as bone nut and saddle and Ibanez Advantage Bridge Pins and in the AVC11, you have a guitar that sounds stunning and plays beautifully at a price that's well below what you would expect for an instrument of this quality.

Thermo Aged™ Solid Top and Spruce X Bracing
Thermo Aged™ Solid top w/Thermo Aged™Spruce X bracing delivers ample volume and an enormous frequency range.

Bone nut and saddle
A bone nut and saddle provide optimal transference of the natural string vibration.

Ibanez Advantage bridge pins
These pins really are an advantage over old-fashioned pins. Advantage™ pins are easier to take out and easier to put in than standard pins. A special bulb-shaped end makes the pin easy to grip and also prevents the pin from being pushed in too far. Best of all, with Advantage™ the pin and string stay put.

Advanced Comfort neck
The AE's "Advanced Comfort Grip" neck shape is an Ibanez original that provides superior comfort and playability. A slight, yet purposeful, asymmetric neck adds to the guitar's unique, natural feel.

Purchased online, all queries answered online via very helpful chat service. Delivery on time and well packaged. I was less than impressed with the AVC11 out the box as the action was so high it greatly reduced the playability of the guitar. At the 12th fret the bass e was around 7/32 and E was 5/64. The nut also required adjusting. The relief however was pretty spot on. So why 4Stars? Well, the setup can be adjusted, everything else I am really quite impressed with at this price point - except the tuning machines, mine slip on the 1st and 3rd string. The neck is near perfect to my eye, the fret work is very good which allowed me to adjust the nut and saddle myself to achieve a really great setup. The herringbone purfling and cream binding look great and the quality of the craftsmanship is very impressive. Overall i’d recommend this guitar, it’s a lot of guitar for the money and I think it definitely punches above its weight at this price. Just know that you will likely need a good setup to get it where you want it to be. The tonewoods are great with the mahogany definitely projecting more mids, it’s not overly bright and not too bass responsive, sounds great both fingerpicking and strumming so I think it’s a good choice if your looking for an all rounder. I plan on swapping the tuning machines out pretty soon, doesn’t bother me too much as I purchased the guitar with the intention of installing open gear machines anyway, just a shame that they lack quality, they feel like light die cast shells, with a tuning machine upgrade this guitar will be on a whole other level.
