One of the oldest guitar manufactures in the world, Christian Frederick Martin founded the company way back in 1833. The restrictions of the European guild system meant that Martin decided to move the company to New York, finally settling in Pennsylvania in 1838.

Martin has been credited with designing many of guitar innovations that are still used today, the X-Brace system and the use of Dovetail joints being among them.

Although the company started producing Mandolin's in the 1890's and Ukulele's in the 1920's, their main focus has always been on acoustic and electro-acoustic guitars. Some of the most popular models include the LX1E Travel Guitar, the 000X1AE Auditorium and the 0X2MAE Concert.

One of the most popular guitars in Martin's range is the Ed Sheeran Signature Divide model, building on the strength of the two previous Ed Sheeran guitars.
