The original Silver Sky was the result of a fruitful collaboration between renowned songwriter and musician John Mayer and legendary guitar builder Paul Reed Smith. The guitar set the world ablaze upon its release in 2018, receiving widespread acclaim and making a distinctive mark within the PRS lineup. With its triple single-coils and vintage-style appointments, Silver Sky encompasses the best of classic and contemporary guitar design. The SE version of the Silver Sky is an affordable alternative to the US-made model, delivering the versatile tone and effortless playing experience that you’d expect.

The Body (Is A Wonderland)

The core of the PRS SE Silver Sky’s tone is the solid Poplar body, which boasts superb resonance and a well-balanced tone. As well as providing supreme playing comfort and a sophisticated look, the Poplar body is an excellent tonal foundation for the trio of PRS 635JM “S” single-coils.

Classic Playability

Catering for the PRS SE Silver Sky’s smooth feel and playability is the bolt-on Maple neck, which is carved to the original 635JM neck shape (that’s also found on the US-built version) and features a traditional 25.5" scale length. This neck profile was designed after extensive research by Mayer and PRS, who researched and test drove an assortment of sought-after vintage instruments. The result is a neck that feels like a combination of classic neck profiles and is incredibly inviting to wrap your fretting hand around.

The neck is topped by a glassy Rosewood fretboard, 22 frets and the beautiful bird inlays that are a trademark of PRS guitars. The fretboard’s 8.5" radius sits between an old-school 7.25" and a more current 9.5", striking an ideal balance between a vintage and modern feel that’ll appeal to both schools of player.

The PRS SE Silver Sky’s 635JM “S” single-coil are a highlight of the guitar’s impressive spec, delivering an array of tones that range from singing warmth to an aggressive bark. The 5-way selector switch, volume and tone controls are perfectly placed for on-the-fly adjustments during a performance.

Completing the PRS SE Silver Sky’s rock-solid construction is the inverted headstock shape, double-acting truss rod (which is accessed from the front for easy adjustment), synthetic bone nut, vintage-style tuners and two-point steel tremolo bridge.
