Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol A49 Controller Keyboard Overview

Sleek, feature-packed and affordable MIDI keyboard with touch-sensitive knobs, a crystal-clear OLED screen and an custom-designed keybed.

The Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol A49 keyboard is a member of the A-Series family and features the same robust build-quality, sophisticated design and inspiring features as its siblings. As with all Native Instruments MIDI keyboards, the A49 boasts totally seamless integration with Komplete Kontrol and Maschine software. The A49 sports 49 full-size keys and Native Instruments’ expressive custom semi-weighted keybed. It sits between the compact A25 and the 5-octave A61 in terms of price point and form factor.

The A49 USB keyboard is perfect if you’re a producer, keyboardist or composer that’s after a lightweight MIDI controller for their home studio or live rig. Like the other models in the A-Series range, the A49 gives you tactile, hardware-style control over your virtual instruments, effects and DAW. If you’re looking for a playing experience that’s closer to a hardware keyboard or synthesizer and don’t have the space for the A61 in your studio or on your desktop, the A49 is a top choice. The A49 is also easy to transport and has a slim form factor, making it a great gigging controller.

Great keyboard - action a bit stiff, and needs proper Cubase support though

Excellent product, build-wise and playability; only problem that pressing the 4D encoder does nothing. GAK collected and tested the item and found no physical fault. It was concluded that this is a software incompatibility with my M1 Silicon Mac. Hopefully NI will update the software sometime. Otherwise the keyboard is still entirely usable. I just have to use the computer mouse to perform the selection function that would be provided by the encoder.

Excellent product for the price. This model lacks some of the high-end features of the S-Series, but is a really good value alternative.
