Orange Crush Bass 50 Glenn Hughes LTD 50W Bass Combo Overview

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Glenn Hughes is best known as the bass player and vocalist with classic hard rock band Deep Purple, and for almost a decade has been an Orange ambassador. This is what he has to say about the Orange Crush Bass 50:

“You can go in the studio, take that bass combo and make your album with something like that, it’s truly outstanding. It’s gritty, it’s punchy: sustain is so important and it’s certainly got all that…Orange all the way…it’s the future, it’s the way to go, you heard it from me!”

He also plays bass in funk-rock band Trapeze, California Breed, The Dead Daisies as well as in Black Country Communion with Joe Bonamassa.

This unique Limited Edition amp has a unique ‘deep purple’ vinyl and a silver-coloured Glenn Hughes Limited Edition plaque.

The Crush Bass 50 is a compact combo amp that takes inspiration from Orange’s flagship OB1 and 4 Stroke amps, combining the best parts of each - with all the essential parts of a practice rig, and the high-quality, versatile features and tone of a professional rig. It delivers crisp, clean tones that are warm and modern, as well as a vintage grind, crazy distortion and a punchy low-end thanks to its analogue circuitry and ported cabinet, making this great for a variety of playing styles.

The active EQ section has a sweepable parametric mid band which lets you get just the right tone, while the gain and blend controls let you easily create ‘bi-amped’-style tones by adding extra levels of harmonics and grit to the fundamental bass tone. The gain and blend controls can also be switched in remotely by using a footswitch (sold separately). There’s also a built-in tuner so you can tune up quickly, a buffered effects loop, aux. input, and a headphone output with Orange’s Cabsim circuitry so you can practice silently.

This amp is great for any hard rock fans, beginner or professional bass players, or someone who wants an amp that looks a little more unique than standard Orange amps.

This is a great amp, sounds huge and really perfect for home use. Only criticism is the lack of a DI output.

It’s a decent amp for the price. Love the purple too. Not got any complaints at the moment
