PRS CE 24 Semi-Hollow Reclaimed LTD, Peroba Rosa Overview

Available in limited numbers for Spring 2017, the PRS CE24 Semi-Hollow Reclaimed LTD run are uniquely beautiful instruments, each one built using 100 year old reclaimed exotic Brazilian tonewoods.

“The forest has come full circle, so to speak. I like to think using this wood showcases Brazil’s rich history of music and guitar making,” said Michael Reid, PRS Senior Wood Manager. “Reclaiming these timbers also allows me to personally make a contribution to sustaining and celebrating Brazil’s resources.”

Peroba Rosa, a dense timber used traditionally as barn sidings is used for the top of this Semi-Hollow constructed guitar. The timber has a punchy, yet warm tone and each top is uniquely marked with nail holes and discolouration, harking back to the timbers former life. Paired with genuine Mahogany for the back, the result is a tight, punchy tone which has incredible sustain. The Fretboard is made from Reclaimed Brauna Preto, typically used for the supporting posts of timber frame barns. The tight grain adds to the impressive sustain and tone.

“Michael has been sourcing wood for me and the company since before there was an official ‘PRS Guitars.’ Wood is our lifeblood, and I trust Michael’s instincts. This old, reclaimed wood is wonderfully resonant and beautiful. Hearing these guitars now, I just have to smile knowing Michael was right again,” said Paul Reed Smith.

Production is limited to approximately 600 instruments, worldwide.

Includes a padded PRS gigbag.
