Steinberger Spirit GT-PRO Quilt Top Deluxe Outfit, Wine Red Overview

Steinberger Spirit GT-PRO Quilt Top Deluxe Overview by GAK:

Nothing looks like a Steinberger and nothing performs like one either! The Spirit GT-Pro guitar features the same distinctive body-shape as the award-winning Steinberger GL Series and features the trademark "headless" design with the patented Double-Ball tuning system. Add to that, a 3-piece hard Maple neck going completely through the body reinforced with an adjustable truss rod and this guitar is extremely stable. This Quilt Top model brings a touch of added elegance with a beautiful 'AAA' grade Quilt Maple veneer on the body with a transparent finish to show off the grain!

Steinberger necks provide players slightly extended spacing at the upper frets and can maintain incredibly accurate intonation under intense shredding. With no headstock, the GT-PRO has a Zero Nut Fret with a width of 1.625 that moves up to 2.04” at the 12th fret as the neck subtly widens to 0.42” string spacing at the bridge. The bridge has steel saddles with Steinberger’s patented R-Trem™ Locking Tremolo and 40:1 Ratio Direct-Pull tuning systems. Unlocked, the R-Trem is capable of extreme dive-bombing as well as pull-ups. Locked, the R-Trem acts like a fixed bridge. Since there is no headstock, the weight of the GT-PRO feels more balanced than a typical guitar. Fine tuning adjustments are made at the bridge and string changes can be made fast! The Steinberger GT-PRO is set up at the factory with Steinberger DoubleBall™ 10-46 strings. Plus, with the Single Ball string adopter, you can set also set up the GT-PRO with regular strings.

The Steinberger GT-PRO is powered by Steinberger’s versatile humbucker pickups in the neck (HB-2) and bridge (HB-1) positions along with full-range Steinberger SC-1 single coil pick up in the middle position. Controls include Master Volume, Master Control, and a 5-way pickup selector. There's also a folding leg rest for playing comfort while sitting. And the GT-Pro is perhaps the world's most "travel-friendly" and convenient guitar ever made. It comes complete with a gigbag and, despite having a full 25.5" scale length is only 30" in length and even fits in most airplane overhead luggage compartments. If you're on a budget but still need and want an instrument with Steinberger features and performance, the Spirit GT-Pro is perfect for you.

Great pocket rocket of a guitar. I originally ordered a different make of travelling guitar but GAK's supplier couldn't get the actual model required and GAK mentioned Steinberger, not known to me, as being similar. Did internet research, as no travel with lockdown, and decided to go with the model shown. emailed cancellation and request for this choice mid-morning on a Tuesday and very soon had confirmation emails re: new order ; cancellation of original order ; refund of difference ; guitar to dispatch department ; guitar dispatched. All done within 4 hours of my initial email. Great service. Guitar delivered next day, Wednesday, what a result and beyond my expectations! Regarding the Steinberger I find it is a very good unique design and I'm really happy with it. They have their own pickups fitted and they work well, with 5 way switch with the HSH set. Action on mine is low and easily adjustable , as is the truss rod, with keys provided. The innovative locking and tremolo bridge with their own in-line string tensioning screws are easy to use if a little fiddly, but string changing is very quick using supplied type double ball end strings - though you can source an adaptor to use standard strings if you wish. Nice neat gigbag provided as well. Both GAK and guitar recommended. Photos show size against standard strat shape + neck end + bridge fittings.

Nice instrument - however, volume drops when using middle pick up positions. Apart from that - very nice.

Absolutely wonderful little guitar. Played well on delivery but I had it set up properly and it's an absolute joy to play on. Light and well balanced with a great sound and the ability to change from a fixed to a floating bridge instantly. What's not to love? Some may not appreciate its toy-ish look but I think it looks and feels great. The wine red finish on this model is particularly sublime. Bought mostly to practice on breaks at work but also looking forward to taking this on holiday with me and still being able to practice. Didn't expect it to be this good!

Guitar seems to be built to a good standard and setup was pretty good straight out of the box. My only complaint is a couple of height frets that need levelling. Deducted 1 star for this.
