Steinberger XT-25 Quilt Top Standard Bass, 5 String, Trans Black
There was nothing like Ned Steinberger’s guitars and basses when they were first introduced in 1979. Today, with their lightweight and headless design, Steinberger basses are still bold, modern instruments that offer players both a smooth tonal response and rock solid intonation at any position on the neck. The Steinberger XT-25 "Quilt Top" Standard 5-string Bass Outfit features the revolutionary Steinberger Bass design with a 5th string tuned to Low B, a Poplar body, and a 3-piece Hard Maple neck that together resonate as a single piece of wood. For travelling musicians, the XT-25 is the ultimate travel bass! At 38.5” long and only 8.2lbs, its ergonomic design makes it easy to take anywhere including overhead airline compartments. And thanks to its headless construction and 3-piece Hard Maple neck, the XT-25 isn’t as sensitive to temperature changes. The neck has a comfortable 1960's style SlimTaper™-D profile with a Granadilla fingerboard, 24 medium jumbo frets, a 34” scale length, and a 14” radius. A folding leg rest sits compactly on the lower bout of the body.
Steinberger basses are renowned for their exceptional tone and intonation at all positions. With no headstock, the XT-25 "Quilt Top" 5-string has a Zero Nut Fret with a width of 1.625” that moves up to 2.40” at the 12th fret as the neck subtly widens to 0.64” string spacing at the bridge. The Patented 40:1 Ratio Direct-Pull tuning system and patented DoubleBallTM Bass Bridge with steel saddle provide exceptional stability and sustain. Without a traditional headstock, the weight of the XT-25 "Quilt Top" feels more balanced than a typical electric bass even with a 5th string. Fine tuning adjustments are made at the bridge and string changes can be made fast! The Steinberger XT-25 is set up at the factory with Steinberger DoubleBall™ (45-65-85-105-128) strings. Plus, with the Single Ball String Adopter, you can set also set up the XT-25 with any bass string of your choice.
The Steinberger XT-25 Standard "Quilt Top" 5-string Bass Outfit is powered by Steinberger full tone HB-1 (bridge) and HB-2 (neck) humbucker pickups. Controls feature black Steinberger style knobs for Neck Pickup Volume, Bridge Pickup Volume, and Master Tone. A deluxe padded gigbag is included.

Awesome sounding Bass and great value for the money! For me it's a perfect travel solution but was surprised how amazing it was and excellent build quality.
Lovely bass for seated playing, it has a nice warm sound with the two pickups, but with some drawbacks; There's no thumbrest, the forward strap button placement makes standing playing awkward. Also the master tone adds some background hiss to the sound output. Overall I love playing this bass, but it could be improved.
Looks, Feels and sounds nice, only thing I needed to do was tweek the intonation slightly and lube the tuning adjusters.
Good value instrument - could use a setup though.
