Taylor 324ce Builders Edition Grand Auditorium Electro Acoustic Overview

The Taylor 324ce has a Grand Auditorium body shape which is a great all-rounder - it has the width of a dreadnought in the lower bout but narrows at the waist like a concert-style guitar, so it will be able to sustain more forceful, open sounding strumming but also easily damps down for more gentle fingerpicking techniques.

The mahogany top provides a remarkably sweet sound and responds very delicately to a lighter touch. The back and sides are made from reclaimed Urban Ash from California. It is especially suited to use with acoustic guitars and emphasises clarity.

Taylor sound ports act to open out the guitar’s sound in another location on the instrument and augment both the player and the listener’s experience.

Taylor has used various voicings based on the classic ‘X’ pattern embraced throughout the industry. The new, innovative V shape channels the energy through the guitar in a way that holds the centre of the top more rigidly than the sides and provides an improvement in volume up the neck, better intonation, and an audible change in the way notes blend further up the higher end of the fretboard.

The ES2 pickup is different from the standard under saddle piezo system, which is under constant tension from the strings. This tension has a negative effect on tone, according to Taylor, and so they place their pickup on the side of the saddle, tensioned by 3 hex bolts which can be adjusted to calibrate the pickup response.

The Taylor 324ce is completed with Gotoh tuners, Italian acrylic compass inlays, a silent satin finish and a dark edge burst treatment for a clean sound, and comes with a Taylor Deluxe Hardshell Brown case.

This is fantastic instrument. It looks stunning especially with those bevelled edges. The sound is what I would expect from this size guitar, crisp mids and a nice tonal high. The bass is good without being too deep. I love it!!!
