Taylor GT 811 Grand Theater Acoustic, Rosewood/Spruce
Overview by GAK
Taylor is renowned for crafting beautiful, world-class acoustic guitars, with a range of models from the entry-level Academy Series up to the high-end models of the 800 and 900 series.
Following the introduction of the Taylor GT in October 2020, the GT series has expanded to include two premium-edition models to join the flagship 800 series - the GT811 and GT811e.
The GT811 has a scaled-down Grand Orchestra frame that’s smaller than a classic Grand Concert, but bigger than a GS Mini with a 24 ⅛ inch scale, making it an ideal size for carry around with you.
The GT 811 features the great combination of tonewoods, with Indian rosewood back and sides to provide a rich, warm tone, with incredible resonance and volume, and a Sitka Spruce top which reliably offers great projection and stability and is suited for many different styles of playing.
It has a silky tropical mahogany body topped with a West African Crelicam Ebony fretboard The fretboard doesn’t feel cramped either thanks to the 1-23/32 inch nut width.
The GT 811 features new C-Class bracing, which has an asymmetrical design and takes the foundational benefits of the V-Class, improving the volume, sustain and bass range, providing a dynamic sound that’s normally found in bigger-bodied guitars.
For aesthetics, it has maple binding on the body and soundhole, a single-ring abalone rosette, mother of pearl Element pegheads and fretboard inlays, Taylor smoked nickel mini-tuners, a rosewood pickguard, ebony bridge pins with abalone dots and a 4.5mm gloss finish on the entire body.
Overview by Taylor
Following the successful debut of the fun-to-play Taylor GT (Grand Theater), Taylor is excited to expand the GT’s presence in the Taylor line with two premium-edition rosewood/spruce models that join our flagship 800 Series. The GT’s accessible body and neck proportions include a scaled-down Grand Orchestra frame (making it slightly shorter and shallower than the Grand Concert body), with a 24-1/8-inch scale length, lending it a slinky feel down the neck. Together with a nut width of 1-23/32 inches, it strikes an ideal balance of fretting-hand comfort and string spacing. The models, the GT 811 and GT 811e, incorporate a “1” as the third digit to identify the GT body style. Each features back and sides of solid Indian rosewood, along with a solid Sitka spruce top.
Taylor’s new C-Class bracing architecture leverages the same foundational concepts as V-Class bracing, improving the volume, sustain and pitch accuracy, with other unique, asymmetrical design elements that enable the GT to coax a surprisingly rich and robust bass response from its compact body dimensions. Between its punchy response and approachable proportions, the GT 811/811e add a completely new sonic personality and playing experience to the popular 800 Series.
