Ibanez RG970WBWZ-WLB Exotic Edition (Walnut Burst) Overview
The Ibanez RG970WBW is part of the RG Series Premium range. A stunning looking solid bodied instrument it has some unique features that make it a little bit special. A gorgeous Burl Walnut top on an American Basswood body looks and sounds fantastic. The RG970WBW has a brilliantly constructed 5 piece Wenge and Bubinga neck. Often used on bass guitars it is super strong despite its slim dimensions and much less common than Maple or Mahogany. Also it feels really great! Another point to note is the immaculately finished fret work. It features the Ibanez Premium Fret Edge Treatment where the edges have been hand rolled, just like the J-Customs. The result is a highly playable fretboard that is smooth to the touch.Fitted to the guitar is an Ibanez Edge Zero II with ZPS3Fe that offers excellent stability under heavy whammy usage. It holds its tuning well and can be converted to full floating by removing the stop bar. It is easily adjustable too. A thumb dial on the back of the guitar allows easy trem adjustment. The DiMarzio IBZ pickups in the bridge, middle and neck positions make this a very versatile solid body electric guitar. A humbucker in the bridge and neck positions provide plenty of power but when combined with the single coil middle pickup some great out of phase sounds can be obtained.
