Blackstar Dept 10 AMPED 2 100W Amp & Effects Pedal Overview

The Blackstar Dept. 10 Amped 2 100W amp and effects pedal is a portable and powerful all-in-one solution for your guitar amp needs. The Amped 2 packs responsive and dynamic amp voices, onboard effects, detailed cabinet simulation, MIDI control and more into a pedalboard-friendly footprint.

Valve Tone On Your Pedal Board

The Blackstar Amped 2 is a feature-packed 100-watt amp pedal that gives guitarists the dynamics, tone and touch-responsiveness of a traditional valve amp - all within a compact pedal form factor. With a single pedal, you can evoke a host of inspiring guitar tones and colour them with studio-grade effects. With the Blackstar Amped 2 on your pedalboard, you’ll have complete and consistent control of your guitar tone - at home, in the studio and onstage.

In addition to its three authentic amplifier voices, the Amped 2 boasts a built-in tuner with a crystal clear display, three drive voices (Boost, Drive & Fuzz), three valve responses and an advanced effects processor. The studio-quality effects offer three flavours of Modulation (Chorus/Flanger, Tremolo & Phaser), Delay (Linear, Analogue & Shimmer) and Reverb (Room, Spring & Plate). Delay time can be dialled in with the dedicated knob or using the dedicated tap tempo footswitch. Both the Delay and Reverb feature a Freeze effect, where holding the footswitch will sustain the trails.

Pro Connectivity

The Amped 2 is equipped with an impressive array of connectivity options and a unique high-headroom design, giving you plenty of flexibility when it’s time to perform or record. You can run the Amped 2 into any 8 or 16 Ohm cabinet setup (with automatic speaker impedance matching), the front end of a traditional amp, direct into a mixing desk or DI box (via the balanced XLR output) or with a pair of headphones for silent practice sessions. A Power Reduction switch from 100W to 1W allows you to tailor the Amped 2’s response to any playing context.

Seamless Integration

Featuring an effects loop, two 9V DC outputs and MIDI control, Blackstar’s Amped 2 pedal has the connectivity to seamlessly integrate with any modern guitar rig and pedalboard. Low-latency USB audio via the USB-C port allows you to use the Amped 2 as an audio interface and record amp tones straight to your DAW - no loadbox or miking setups required.

3 Amp Voices

Blackstar’s Amped 2 guitar amp pedal offers a streamlined selection of three amplifier voices, each of which delivers the desirable sonic qualities of a valve amp.

USA has a bold, clean and bright character that’s reminiscent of classic mid-60s American amps. It’s an excellent blank canvas for your own effects. UK is a low-to-medium gain tone inspired by a beloved early-60s British Class A amp. Depending on how you set it up, UK can perform as both a pedal platform and a warm, articulate crunch tone. Classic is perfect for fat, punchy rhythm playing and solos with clear note separation. This voice is based on Blackstar’s celebrated cascaded valve/tube overdrive circuits and a British-style passive tone stack.

3 Valve Responses

The Amped 2 features three valve responses, which precisely emulate the distinctive break-up and sag characteristics of the individual valve type. EL34 is a classic British Class A/B crunch with a soft yet full-bodied break-up that you’d associate with big valve stacks. EL84 has a rich, saturated and compressed character with plenty of chime and mid-range punch. 6L6 has a deep, powerful bass and sparkling treble response with a tight, dynamic feel.

Better Than An IR

Blackstar equip the Amped 2 with their innovative CabRig technology. This next-generation DSP speaker simulator accurately recreates the feel and sound of a miked guitar cab with jaw-dropping detail. The free Architect software for PC and Mac lets you tweak your direct tone with a range of cab types, microphones, mic positions and more. Your favourite CabRig settings can be stored in one of the three onboard slots for quick recall.
