Epiphone MB-100 Banjo (Natural)
The Epiphone MB-100 open back is a great 5-string G-banjo that's the the perfect traveling companion. It's open-back gives it a softer, more mellow tone than most people associate with the banjo, and also makes it a little quieter, making it a great starter instrument. The lack of a resonator also makes it a lot lighter, so it's great as a practice instrument too.
Although they're much more closely associated with guitars these says, Epiphone's founder, Epi Stathopoulo, made his first mark on the patent records with a banjo patent, and although Epiphone stepped away from banjo for many years, they were originally at the forefront of banjo design. As an instrumental trendsetter they historically lead the industry in making affordable quality instruments. And they continue that path up until today.
