Fender Custom Shop Paul Waller Master Design ‘53 Tele, Journeyman Relic, White Blonde Overview
Fender Custom Shop Paul Waller Master Design ‘53 Tele, Journeyman Relic, White Blonde Overview.
A hot-rodded version of the rough-and-tumble Telecaster®, the Paul Waller Master Design ’53 Tele combines original-era style with some tricks modern players will dig. Waller connected an active mid-boost circuit to the tone control, which acts as normal from 0-10 but engages the boost at the center detent position—perfect for making solos jump out of the mix. The Custom Shop Hand-Wound Broadcaster bridge pickup and ’51 Nocaster neck pickup are underwound for sweeter tone than the typically brash sound of a Tele. Modern 3-way switching and wiring lets you use either pickup alone, or combined, versus the traditional control scheme which included a “bass” tone preset.
The two-piece ash body wears a Journeyman Relic® lacquer finish that lets the body “breathe” with more resonance and sustain while wearing in a distinctively personal way. Crafted from ultra-stable riftsawn maple, the neck sports a “ ’53 Soft V” neck profile that is ideal for chordal and single-note playing while the 9.5”-radius maple fingerboard hosts 21 medium-jumbo frets. Designed for players who need a “secret weapon”, The Paul Waller Master Design ’53 Tele is a sterling example of the master builder’s craft. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
