The Marshall "Plexi" JMP first came to life in late 1967 as an advancement of the extremely highly regarded JTM series with new features such as a new 100 watt model, solid state rectification and EL34 power tubes. The 1974 Marshall JMP Super Lead MK II is essentially a metal faced version of these earlier Plexi models but with slight changes to the components giving them a brighter and more aggressive tone while also changing from PTP to PCB board giving more consistency. These were used by many artists including AC/DC due to their more driven aggressive sound straight out the box.
