Mesa Boogie originally began back in the 70's when Randall Smith opened small repair shop which modified Fender combos to give them more gain. Soon the word spread, and with users like Carlos Santana, Boogie became some of the hottest amps going. Not content with just inventing modern hi-gain, Mesa Boogie then went on to invent channel switching with the MKII.
Fast forward to today, where Randall Smith still heads up the design team and continues to bring new and innovative ideas to their amplifiers. The current Mark V features just about every tone you could want, all with channel selectable output powers, and their stalwart Dual and Triple Rectifiers can be found on stages the world over.
User's of Mesa Boogie products are pretty much the who's who of the guitar world, including the likes of James Hetfield (Metallica), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden) and John Petrucci (Dream Theater.)
