The Compact Plus BG-450 represents the pinnacle of PJB’s lineup of small, lightweight, yet incredibly powerful bass combos.
Powerful Performance in a Compact Size
Mirroring the size of PJB’s C-4 speaker enclosure, this combo packs a punch with a power amplifier capable of delivering up to 450 Watts through its four internal 5" drivers. PJB’s proprietary chrome dome drivers, known for their exceptional efficiency, are utilized in the BG-450, resulting in an unmatched combination of power and driver performance. This makes it the finest 4x5 combo ever created by PJB, offering remarkable sound quality while maintaining a lightweight design.
Innovative Design and High Efficiency
With its outstanding ability to cut through the air like a knife through butter, the BG-450 delivers an incredible punchy sound and a solid, powerful low-end response typically associated with much larger combos. At the core of this amp lies an impressive ultra-high-energy power supply utilizing a Class D power amplifier, ensuring high efficiency, reduced heat generation, and lighter weight. It is paired with a pure Class-A, ultra-low noise preamp, completing a power section that provides an extensive dynamic range, enabling players to achieve the best tone in any playing situation.
Versatile Preamp with Intuitive Controls
The preamp design features a single channel equipped with a variable gain input section, perfectly matched for both active and passive basses. It also includes a mute switch and the classic PJB 5-band precision EQ system, offering a wide range of tones with just five controls. This intuitive setup allows players to effortlessly find their perfect tone within seconds.
Expanded Tonal Options and Connectivity
The send/return FX patch allows for blending with the direct signal, opening up even more tonal possibilities. Additionally, a secondary AUX input accommodates practicing along with backing tracks via a 1/8" stereo jack. The back panel features a Line Output jack, enabling the BG-450 to be used in slave mode with one or multiple amps, as well as a line input for connecting an external preamp if desired.
Convenient Output and Voltage Compatibility
The DI balanced out can be set as pre or post EQ and includes a ground lift option to eliminate troublesome hum. Speaker output is facilitated by a Speakon NL4 socket, ideally suited for driving a C4 or C8 cabinet. The amp can operate on any AC voltage ranging from 100 volts to 240 volts.
The Suitcase Plus: Power and Versatility
The Suitcase Plus delivers a punchy 250 watts through its internal speakers, and when connected to an external cabinet, it can achieve up to 450 watts of power.
