PRS SE Starla, Frost Green Metallic Overview

With its retro-inspired vibe and appointments, the PRS SE Starla Stoptail is an approachable but distinctive guitar. The all-mahogany body paired with a two-piece adjustable stoptail bridge offers a woody, warm midrange tone, while the DS-02 treble and bass pickups add a bright high-end bark that allows the SE Starla Stoptail to cut through the mix. Turn up the volume and the DS-02 pickups go from clean and crisp to driving with rich harmonic overtones. The electronics layout features a 3-way blade pickup switch with a push/pull tone control, so the humbuckers can split into single coils for even more versatility.

Other features include a 22 fret, 25in scale length wide fat mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, bird inlays, and pickguard assembly. Tone, feel, and style are all waiting for you with the SE Starla Stoptail.

Excellent guitar. Quality as good from this Indonesian built SE as with any of my Korean built PRS guitars. Perfect for upgrade with a Duesenberg trem and Grover locking tuners. Highly recommended!

Usual PRS SE build quality and attention to detail on the finish, Setup out of the box is good. Very Light and comfortable for a mahogany guitar. Neck is really comfortable and the frets are dressed and finished well. The only moan I have is the gloss finish on the neck, like all gloss necks they get sticky after playing for a while ... Easily sorted with a bit of wire wool but it would be great if they came out of the box with a satin finish that doesn't gum up. Minus 1 star for that. The pickups are fantastic and set the Starla apart from its peer's, they deliver a real range of more vintage tones from the classic T type twang to a SG growl. Very different from the usual PRS 85/15s. Oh yeah ... comes with a decent quality gigbag too ... very nice :)
