They do exactly what they claim! They sound great, but the main thing is they do TONS of passive noise reduction which means very little leakage, which was the main reason for isolating for me, not keeping the outside world out of my ears but keeping my splashes and crashes out of the ears of anyone nearby. They're also perfectly comfortable to wear for an hour or so without too much fatigue. Only negative is I'd have preferred a velvet/fabric earpad to reduce sweat, but if you want these for use in a multi-user setting (teaching, shop demo, etc.) they're easy to disinfect and de-sweat between users without gross wet-pad syndrome!!

Excellent quality. Clear input sound whilst blocking out external noise, perfect!

Great headphones - wish I'd bought them much sooner (i.e. 20 years ago, when I could still hear sounds above 8Khz!) I use these for acoustic drum practice - the volume reduction is superb. I also use them for recording, playing to a click - I no longer have to run the click at a volume to compete with the kit noise, and this is a wonderful thing. Only slight issue is that they seem to distort much sooner (lower volume) than other headphones I've used in the past. This does mean I generally keep the volumes lower, which is great for my ears. Great product, if you're a drummer and you're not using headphones to protect your hearing, get these now!
