Fender Custom Shop Jazzmaster NOS (Blue Sparkle) Overview
This is the sort of guitar the Custom Shop is for! Featuring an extra-light two-piece Alder body with that awesome Blue Sparkle finish! The neck is pretty unusual in as much as it is constructed from rift-sawn Maple. Rift sawing is actually the strongest, most stable cut of wood possible (more so than flat or even quarter sawn) but is rarely used as is comparatively quite wasteful. The fingerboard is AAA Indian Rosewood with a 10" radius, the frets are narrow & tall 6105s. The neck profile is Fender's traditional '62 Jazzmaster shape measuring .820" at the first and .930" at the twelfth fret. Electronics-wise there are calibrated Custom Shop Jazzmaster pickups. Another unusual feature of this very cool guitar is that it has a factory-fitted 'Buzz Stop' on the tailpiece. For those who are unfamiliar with this nifty device it is a plate that houses a steel roller under which the strings pass which has a number of benefits. First it increases the break angle of the strings over the bridge (making them much less likely to pop out of the grooves on the bridge saddles) , also this increase of break angle really fattens out the tone and gives more sustain.
