Gretsch G5230T Electromatic JetTM FT Single-Cut with Bigsby, Aleutian Blue Overview.

In its 65-year existence the Gretsch® Jet has been the hallmark sound for iconic players. The all-new G5230T Electromatic® Jet™ FT Single-Cut with Bigsby® captures that essential Jet power and fidelity at an incredible price. Classic Jet tone begins with a chambered mahogany body with maple top that produces full lows and mids with an exceptionally smooth and present high end. The result is a deep acoustic foundation that is robust, yet balanced. Black Top Filter’Tron™ pickups amplify and accentuate the Electromatic Jet FT’s chambered body to produce a wide, balanced and transparent tone. Loud and punchy, this Jet sounds out with remarkable definition at any level of gain. Together, the body and pickups thunder with full, responsive lows and mids with a high end that sparkles without spikes. The Electromatic Jet FT is equipped with essential features that give you complete tonal control. The combination of individual pickup volume controls, master tone and master volume with treble bleed circuit provides intuitive global control over your pickup and tone settings.

    Beautiful guitar. Worth every penny.

Quality finish, smooth frets & easy action. Tuned up and I was away with that distinctive Gretsch sound. It's holding it's tune well. Worth shopping around for best price. For a shade over 400 quid I got a bargain.

I am used to playing a Fender Strat., and have never played a Gretsch. The guitar is very well made and finished and I was impressed by the high standard. There are a couple of things that are different to a Strat. The Bigsby tremolo is made so that the arm will not travel further than about parallel with the strings, so playing whilst holding the arm (as I often do with the Stratocaster) is not possible. The fretboard inlays are small and on the edge of the fretboard and do not contrast with the colour of the fretboard so they are difficult to easily identify. There are no inlays or edge markings above the 17th fret. As an amateur player I am finding it very difficult to remember where exactly where on the keyboard I am, perhaps not a problem with a professional player, but I don't like it. As other reveiwers have mentioned it does not stay in tune as well as other guitars and the Bigsby seems to be the culprit, although, having lubricated the nut and string path at the bridge, this seems to be somewhat better. There is a volume control for each of the pickups but so far I have not found these to be very useful so leave them both at maximum. The pickup switch selector is somewhat stiff and can even nip fingers if you are not careful! The fingering action on the fretboard is excellent and the pickups output give a very pleasing strong, clear sound. The tone control (which controls both pickups) also works well and with less volume change than the Strat. Upon receipt the guitar was well set up. After tuning, the string height and intonation were spot on and it was nicely packaged. Overall a lovely guitar with good finger action and tone but a couple of drawbacks for some players
