Gretsch Custom Shop Masterbuilt G6134T-59 Penguin Relic, Shell Pink Overview

This Gretsch Custom Shop Masterbuilt G6134T-59 in Shell Pink is more than an electric guitar - it’s a work of art. Custom ordered and personally crafted by Gretsch Master Builder Chad Henrichsen, this 1959 Penguin model perfectly captures the timeless charm and captivating tone of a prized vintage Gretsch. Tortoise shell binding, pickguard, pickup surrounds and headstock inlays really sets this guitar apart from the crowd. We guarantee you will not see another Penguin like this!

Peerless Craftsmanship

At the heart of this Gretsch G6134T-59’s natural voice is its period-correct construction and hand-selected tonewoods. The Gretsch G6134T-59’s mahogany body and maple top, which is based on the classic '59 penguin, delivers the warmth, resonance, snap and ample sustain that Penguin’s are renowned for. The Mahogany neck has been sculpted to a perfect profile “V” shaped profile , imparting a comfortable hand-feel that’s well-suited to “thumb-over” playing styles. The buttery-smooth Ebony fretboard is topped with Medium Jumbo frets for effortless bending and vibrato.

That Great Gretsch Sound

This Gretsch G6134T-59 has been equipped with a pair of dynamic and articulate TV Jones Classic pickups. The TV Classic captures that vintage twang and growl characteristic of the late 1950’s Filter’Tron. Originally designed from an analysed 1959 “Pat. Applied For” Filter’Tron, the TV Classic is TV Jones’s most popular and most versatile pickup. Popularized and played by many different artists ranging from John Mayer to Brian Setzer.

Vintage Charm

Chad Henrichsen has given this Gretsch G6134T-59 the relic treatment, which imbues the guitar an endearing vintage charm. Whilst there are small signs of playing wear, the mild checks to the shell pink finish, the slightly oxidised hardware, discoloured plastic and minor surface scratches are subtle indications of its age. It’s as if this guitar was built all the way back in 1959 played a few times and then left in its case over the decades.

Modern Performance

Completing this Gretsch Gretsch Custom Shop Masterbuilt G6134T-59’s impressive spec is its Grover imperial tuners and Gretsch-branded Bigsby bridge, which ensure rock-solid tuning stability and a smooth vibrato action. With this guitar you have the tone, feel and look of a vintage Gretsch with the reliability and performance of a modern one - perfect for when you want that authentic “Great Gretsch Sound” live or in the studio.

Little can compare to a masterbuilt Gretsch instrument and this particular example is a prime showcase of Chad Henrichsen’s astounding craftsmanship. If you’re looking to add a Gretsch to your collection that stands out from the rest, this G6134T-59 is well worth your attention.
