Epiphone Kirk Hammett Greeny 1959 Les Paul Standard, Greeny Burst Overview

The enigmatic legend “Greeny”… Wrapped in mystery but steeped in unrivaled guitar lore, few instruments hold a candle to its illustrious history. “Greeny” stands tall as one of the most iconic original Les Paul Standards ever made, boasting a unique style and sound as distinctive as its fabled past.

This storied guitar, previously in the possession of Peter Green, resonated through the iconic tracks of Fleetwood Mac during his tenure and later found its way into the hands of Gary Moore. For three remarkable decades, Moore infused its essence into the music of Thin Lizzy and his solo ventures. Now under the ownership of Kirk Hammett, “Greeny” has journeyed through the artistry of three legendary guitarists, each leaving an indelible mark on its history.

The unmistakable sound of “Greeny” owes in part to the out-of-phase middle switch position, a result of the neck pickup’s reversed magnetic polarity. The Epiphone Kirk Hammett “Greeny” Les Paul Standard is the remarkable offspring of a collaboration between Epiphone and the revered Gibson Custom Shop. Inspired by Kirk’s fabled original, this exceptional guitar grants musicians worldwide a chance to embrace a fragment of the “Greeny” magic.

Crafted with premium components, this guitar features Gibson USA Greenybuсker pickups, with the neck pickup mounted in reverse, complemented by a reverse polarity magnet. It includes a Switchcraft pickup selector and 1/4" output jack, CTS potentiometers, Mallory capacitors, and Grover Rotomatic tuners adorned with spade-style buttons on a Gibson-style “open book” headstock. As a testament to its vintage roots, this icon comes complete with a vintage-style brown and pink hardshell case.
