Fender Custom Shop 1963 Stratocaster Super Heavy Relic, Tao Turquoise Overview

Combining an authentically vintage spec with artisanal craftsmanship, this 1963 Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster is a great of example of why these guitars are among the best in the world. This guitar has been spec'd out to the highest standard. It includes a light-weight sorted Ash body, AAA Dark Rosewood Sorted fretboard and Handwound 60/63 Custom Shop Pickups.

Classic Feel & Sound

Providing this '63 Custom Shop Strat with its vintage foundation is its 1960 base model, which gives it the timeless feel & sound of a “golden era” instrument. This is bolstered by the fantastic Rift Sawn Maple neck, which features a comfortable '60 style Oval C profile. The gorgeous AAA Dark Rosewood fretboard is adorned with Jumbo 6100 frets, which imbue this guitar’s playability with a modern edge and add robustness to the tone.

The old-school Ash body has is the basis for this Strat’s eminently resonant tone, balancing a firm low-end with sweet, airy highs. The particular piece of Ash that this Strat was constructed from was specially chosen for its lighter weight. Its been coated in a nitrocellulose finish, which promotes sustain by allowing the wood to “breathe” and age beautifully over time.

Stunning Worn-In Look

A clear highlight of the '63 Custom Shop Strat is its Super Heavy Relic treatment and striking Tao Turquoise finish. The meticulous SHR process goes beyond traditional Heavy Relic ageing, imparting this Strat with the worn-in, battle-hardened character of a well-played workhorse that has seen a lot of gigs. The finish has completely faded in places, exposing the stunning grain of the Ash body.

Vintage Strat Tone

This '63 Custom Shop Strat boasts a trio of handwound '60/63 Strat single-coils, with a Reverse-Wound/Reverse-Polarity middle which eliminates hum. These pickups have a bold, warm & articulate tone that dynamically responds to the nuances in your playing. They excel at both crystalline cleans and blistering gains. Thanks to the Strat Blender electronics, you have access to two additional tones - neck & bridge and all three pickups at once.

Modern Reliability

Made with premium components, the finest tonewoods and Fender Custom Shop’s masterful craftsmanship, this Strat combines the best elements of classic & contemporary. The result is a guitar that has the look, feel & tone of a vintage Fender plus the rock-solid reliability that you’d expect from a modern, professional-grade instrument.

With a gorgeous sound, great playability and a riveting aesthetic to match, this '63 Custom Shop Stratocaster is guaranteed to be a standout in your collection.
